  19. Your mouse pointer races across the screen in sudden bursts. It is
  20. difficult to control and often goes beyond what you aim for.
  21.  
  22. CAUSE
  23. =====
  24.  
  25. You have a serial mouse connected to a port based on the 16550 UART
  26. chip. The port adapter or motherboard uses hardware buffering rather
  27. than software buffering; and, the buffer is turned on. The mouse races
  28. because the hardware buffer is caching mouse movements and releasing
  29. them to the mouse driver in blocks. The mouse driver interprets these
  30. streams of movements as accelerated input and drives the mouse pointer
  31. accordingly.

  36. Disable the hardware buffering for the serial port the mouse is
  37. connected to, or choose a different port.
